 Intake of the Department = 180

 

• Established in 2003 with an intake of 60 students and later the strength was increased to 120 in the year 2011 and then strength was increased to 180 in 2019.
• 32 professionally qualified faculty members with various research specializations.
• Five VTU ranks: four in PG and 1 in UG.
• The final year students are placed in reputed companies with the highest package of Rs. 20 Lakhs Per Annum.
• Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi from 01.07.2017 to 30.06.2020 and 01.07.2020 to 30.06.2023.
• Established training placements and research labs such as Embedded Lab, IOT Lab, Intel Lab and Wireless Communication Lab with the latest technical tools for encouraging students and research scholars in updating their knowledge on the latest technology.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) :

PEO1: To inculcate students to excel in professional career and/or higher education by acquiring knowledge in the field of Electronics and Communication.

PEO2:To make the students capable of managing their profession based on existing as well as new emerging technologies in the area of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

About the course :

The course consists of:
Electronics subjects like Fundamentals of CMOS VLSI Design, Fundamentals of HDL programming, Network Analysis, Field Theory, Analog Electronics circuits and etc. Signal Processing & Communication subjects like Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Speech Processing, Image Processing, Analog Communication, Digital communication and etc. Computer science subjects like operating systems, Programming in C++ and etc. Management subjects like Management and entrepreneurship and etc. Mathematics subjects like Mathematics III, Mathematics IV and etc.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru and Deshila Technology Research Institute, Mysuru on 4th June 2022 at GSSSIETW, Mysuru to bridge the gap between Industry and Academia.

By signing this MoU, GSSSIETW and Deshila Technology Research Institute, Mysuru, have agreed to explore a collaborative approach which is mutually beneficial to the students and the Industry. DTRI will offer industry standard projects and internships to students in adherence to college and VTU guidelines.

Hands-on training in latest technologies will be provided to interested students paving way to seek job opportunities in core companies. Platform for upskilling faculties and research activities will be arranged as per requirements on a regular basis. GSSSIETW in association with DTRI will frame additional skill development activities meeting the Industry standards. Awareness on technology trends in 5G Communication and IoT domain will be given more focus under this MoU program.

GSSSIETW signed an Academic Alliance with UiPath on 29th July 2020. GSSSIETW in association with UiPath will be conducting courses for the students on usage of UiPath Studio, UiPath Robot and UiPath Orchestrator, RPA Design and Development, Capstone projects. On successful completion of the course students can take up RPA certification.

Inaugural function of National Conference on Communication and Data Science (NCCDS – 2019)

A one day National Conference on Communication and Data Science (NCCDS – 2019) was organized by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women Mysuru on 26th April 2019 in association with IETE and publication partners BJIT- International Journal of Information Technology published by Springer Nature & International Journal of Computer Application (IJCA) .

NCCDS - 2019 was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Suryakanth V Gangashetty, Professor, IIIT, Hyderabad. The Inaugural function was presided by Sri. R K Bharath, CEO & Management Committee Member GSSS(R), Dr. Shivakumar. M, Principal, GSSSIETW, Dr. Rajendra R Patil, Professor & Head, Dept. of ECE and Dr. Padmashree S, Professor, Dept. of ECE, Conference Conveners of NCCDS-2019 HODs, Staff and Students of GSSSIETW were present on this occasion.

Chief Guest Dr. Suryakanth V Gangashetty in his inaugural address appreciated the need for conferences and appraised all research scholars to share their knowledge and improve their skill in publishing research papers and work towards the growth of research. He advised young research scholars and students to make use of this opportunity for improving their research knowledge. He also appreciated NCCDS-2019 for successfully pooling research papers for the conference from various states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, etc.

After the inaugural address chief guest gave a Keynote address on the topic “Communication and Data science”. In his keynote he emphasized many important facts on computer evolution, its functionality and its role in technology. He demonstrated many interesting facts on speech processing through demos and updated the students with latest development in speech processing.

Around 131 papers for the conference were received from Kashmir, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and from all parts of Karnataka. The selected 90 papers were organized for presentation in 8 different sessions based on the domain and domain experts from various engineering colleges were identified to chair the sessions.

The tracks identified were Data Science, Communication and Antenna systems, Computer networks / WSN / Network Security, Embedded systems and Robotics, VLSI System design & Embedded Systems, Signal / Image / video processing, Internet of Things .

By signing this MOU, GSSSIETW and KrutiBimb Concepts, have agreed to enhance the quality of the research output of the Faculty, Doctoral Students, Post graduate students and Under graduate Students of the Institute, both at institution and at KrutiBimb Campuses. Kaaya Tech Inc is engaged in Business, Manufacturing and R&D Services in the fields of Human Machine Interface, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Smart Textiles, Internet of Things, Animation and related fields
The MoU is intended for technical cooperation between the kaaya Tech Inc., Mysuru and the Department of ECE, GSSIETW and focus their efforts on cooperation within the area of Skill Based Training, Education and Research.

INTEL® Intelligent Systems Lab

The college houses an INTEL Lab. INTEL® Intelligent Systems Lab has been setup to enhance students' employability skills by signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intel®-FICE (Foundation for Innovation and Collaborative Education) in order to bridge the gap between industry and academia. FICE is also committed to support in assisting students for the academic projects by providing training and certification thereby generating employment.

 

Industry Institute Collaboration :

• The Department houses an INTEL Lab. INTEL® Intelligent Systems Lab has been setup to enhance students' employability skills by signing MoU with Intel®- FICE (Foundation for Innovation and Collaborative Education) in order to bridge the gap between industry and academia. FICE is also committed to support in assisting students for the academic projects by providing training and certification thereby generating employment.
