Event 1: Visit to sewage treatment plant in the college campus

An educational visit to Sewage Treatment Plant was organised in the last week of December 2022, for 1st semester students as a part of their activity under science club (Scigenix). The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the students with the procedure of waste treatment and reuse.

  

 

Event 2: Winter nature study

GSSS group of institutions in association with Regional Museum of Natural History, Mysuru organized a Winter Nature Study 2023 to the first year students as a part of their activity under science club (Scigenix) on 07.01.2023. The main aim of this program is to know the conservation of the birds and to get information about various aspects regarding the birds and to identification of them. The resource persons were Sri K C Mandappa, Ornithologist, & Dr. Mahindran, senior scientist, SACON (Southern Regional Centre of National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi) Coimbatore.

  

  

 

Event 3: Orientation programme for adventure club members

Under Adventure club an “Orientation Programme” was conducted for first year adventure club members. Mr. Shivashankar, convener, gave brief introduction about trekking and exploring nature by trekking in the forest without disturbing species.

 

Event 4: Trek to Nishane Motte, Coorg

Under Adventure club a trek was organised to Nishane Motte, a hill in the district of Coorg on 5/02/2023 for 1st year students. The purpose of the visit is to address the nature in its wilderness and accompanied by the volunteers of People’s Trek and Trek experts.

 

Event 5: Talk on Himalayan women’s expedition

A talk on Himalayan women’s expedition was organized at GSSSIETW, Mysuru on 20-2-2023. M.P Shamala, Mountaineer and Marathon Runner was delivered a talk. In her talk she shared her experiences on trekking with the Fit@ 50+ Expedition led by the legendary Bachendri Pal. Students and faculty coordinators of the club really inspired by her journey.

 

 

Event 6: Sky Watch Program

The Science & Adventure Club of GSSSIETW, Mysuru has organized a sky watch program on 23.02.2023 at GSSSIETW campus in association with Gravity Science foundation, Chamarajanagara. There was a talk on “The wonders of Night Sky” by Dr. S N Prasad, former Principal, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysuru followed by Sky watch program

EVENT: ONE DAY “CULTURAL PROGRAM” ON THE OCCASION OF KANNADA RAJYOTSAVA ON 22nd NOVEMBER 2022

GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women had organized a One day “Cultural program” under AICTE – SPICES scheme under Kalasurabhi Club on the occasion of 67th Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration on Nov 22nd 2022.
The main objective of conducting the Kannada Rajyotsava event on Novemeber 22nd 2023 was to understand the importance of kannada literature and also to promote Kannada language among the students.
After the inauguration, some of the intercollegiate cultural events were conducted namely Singing, Dance, Skit and Essay writing competitions were held and attractive cash prizes were awarded under each category.

 

Singing Competition

The intercollegiate dance competition was held under 3 categories such as Solo classical, Solo freestyle and group dance. Around 20 teams under group dance and 15 participants under solo dance participated in the event. The event was judged by Smt. Nagashree Phaani, Senior Artist, Mysuru and Smt. Anitha C N, Senior Artist & Dance teacher, Mysuru

 

Skit Competition:

The skit competition was held for a total of 7 teams from different colleges from 11am to 2pm at the Govind Rao Memorial hall. The event was judged by Smt. Geetha S, Senior artist, Rangayana and Smt. Santosh Kumar Kusnoor,Senior Artist, Rangayana, Mysuru.

Kannada Essay Competition:

The essay writing competition was held at B-104 classroom for a total of 36 participants from various colleges on the topic “Kannada Folklore & Heritage”. The event was judged by Dr. G Sreenivasa, Prof & HOD, Dept. of Kannada, Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru.

6. Activity Conducted during Even Semester 2022-23:

EVENT 1:   One Day Program on “Natural Language Processing for Sanskrit Language” on 22nd February 2023.

Sri.M P Selvatirunarayana & Sri. R Narayana Iyengar, Senior Research Associate, Academy of Sanskrit Research, Melkote delivered a talk on “Some Reflections on Sanskrit Literature” with a demonstration on the research work conducted by the academy in the area of Sanskrit. The session covered the usage of computers for Sanskrit language in the area of Natural Language Processing which was followed by a talk on “Metric Analyzer for Sanskrit poems” by Dr. R J Pratibha, Associate Professor, Dept. of ISE, JSS S&TU, Mysuru

The main objective of this program was to understand how language processing could be used in the communication between computers and human through natural languages especially Sanskrit which being the very ancient language of India.

As a part of program Bhagavadgeetha and Shubhashitha Competition were conducted during the post lunch session and more than 40 students participated from various schools and colleges of Mysuru. Attractive cash prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants of the competition.

Bhagavadgeetha Competition:

  

The participants recited shlokas of Bhagavadgeetha during the event. Around 20 students participated from various schools and colleges.

 

Shubhashitha Competition:

  

Around 21 students had registered for the event. The participants were allowed to deliver the “Shubhashitha” – A Literary Genre given by various ancient Indian Scholars.

EVENT 2: Kick start of Intercollegiate Sports and Cultural fest - “Geethayaana 2023”

The Kalasurabhi club of GSSSIETW is hosting the Kick start event of “GEETHAYAANA 2023”- Annual Intercollegiate sports and cultural fest on May 8th 2023.

This exhibition gave a platform for students to showcase their skills ranging from Drawing, that included pencil shading, colour pencil sketches, charcoal art, mandala arts, paintings like watercolour, oil paints, and acrylic, paper crafts.

Heritage club has organized a talk on “Awareness and Preservation of Historical and Heritage sites”  by Dr S Shashikumara on 26th January 2023. He briefed  about the ancient history where this term “Heritage” actually started. He spoke about the prominent master pieces in history and how creative, knowledge our ancestors were.

In connection with Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, to celebrate 75th Independence Day of the country and glories history of its people culture and achievements, NSS unit of GSSSIETW organized an in-house Drawing Competition with the theme “Spirit of Freedom Struggle”. More than 25 students actively participated in the competition and the best two drawings were selected as winners of the competition. The winners were honored by Dr. M Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW on 8th March 2022. First prize was won by Sneha M of 3rd semester ECE Department and the second prize was given to Bhavani K of 3rd semester CSE Department.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Sheshadri S N, NSS Program officer, & Syeda Nausheen Fathima, NSS Coordinator, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

Awareness program on importance of Education on 8th March 2022

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized awareness program on importance of education at Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2022 in association with Government High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village. This program was actively carried out by NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW.

During this program NSS volunteers emphasized on importance of Education as, Education is one of the key components for an individual’s success. It has the ability to shape one’s life in the right direction. Education is a process of imparting or acquiring knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment. It prepares oneself or others intellectually for mature life. It improves not only the personal life of the people but also their community. Thus, one cannot neglect the significance of Education in life and society.

NSS volunteers also provided information to school children about the Government initiative, Right to Education Act (RTE Act 2009). This Act came into effect on 1 April 2010, following which education has become the fundamental right of every child in India. On similar lines, volunteers also enlightened students about the other schemes launched by the government such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid-Day Meal, Adult Education, Skill Development Scheme, National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, National Program for Education of Girls at Elementary Education, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Scheme for Infrastructure Development in Minority Institutions, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, etc.

In this drive 78 students actively participated along with Dr. Sheshadri S N, NSS Program officer & Syeda Nausheen Fathima, NSS coordinator, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

International women’s day on 8th March 2022

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru and Village Panchayth, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk jointly organized International Women’s Day-2022 with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” on 8th March 2022 at Govt. High School premises, Dodda Maragowdanahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk.

Mr. Rukmanda, Panchayath Development Officer, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath was the Chief Guest of the event in his speech he said that, women are recognized and celebrated for playing various roles in different spheres of life. Women have a spirit which makes them excel in their fields. They contribute massively to the lives of their family members and the country.

During this event Kumar S, Headmaster, Govt. High School, Dodda Maragowdanahalli spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day he stressed that there is a great responsibility of the society to empower women to overcome the gender inequality. He also said that, the world is moving towards gender equality, it is moving towards a balance between both men and women. A change is required and is also essential. It is observed that men have had more advantages in every sphere of life in comparison to women since ages. However, this needs a change as we all are humans and should be treated equally with equal rights and opportunities.

The event was presided by Smt. Suma, president, Dodda Maragowdanahalli village panchayath, in her presidential address she emphasized that now a day’s Women are indeed making the world to turn heads towards them because of their strength and participation in almost all fields.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Health awareness program at Danagalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 18th November 2021.

Dr. Venkatesh, Medical officer, Community Health Centre, Jayapura village, Mysuru Taluk was the Guest speaker. In his speech he emphasized the importance of cultivating good food habits for good health. Followed by this he spoke about women health issues, symptoms and remedies for various common health problems related to women. In the recent times, concern towards women health has been increased multifold.

There is an increase in the diseases which have been attributed to the recent lifestyle changes of today's woman. The need of the hour is to adopt the easiest strategy of prevention. Prevention means an early diagnosis and a timely effective treatment.

On the occasion of Azadi ki Amruth Mahothsav to commemorate the 75th year of Independence Day, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized plantation program on 18th November 2021 at D Saluhundi Village Govt. High School premises. The event was conducted in association with Danagalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk, Mysuru district.

As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribution to green and healthy environment students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru planted 75 saplings of different varieties. The students and faculties selected the empty places in the school premises and the road sides to plant saplings in a well-organized way. In order to restore the eco-balance of the environment, aforestation drive was taken with all seriousness. Participants were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success.

VISIT TO ORGANIC RESEARCH STATION on 8th March 2021

NSS Volunteers of GSSSIETW visited Organic research Station, Naganahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk on 8th March 2021 to know more about Organic farming in current scenario.

Sri NalwadiKrishnaraja Wadiyar, Ruler of Mysore Kingdom, a visionary who set up the Naganahalli Farming Research Centre 110 years ago for the development of Agriculture and to help the farmers to increase their income. Now the centre is functioning under University of Agriculture Sciences, Bengaluru.

During the visit students visited all departments of Research centre and learnt about researches going on in agriculture field. Dr. P Prakash, Professor and Chief of Organic agriculture Research Centre explained about the activities of the centre.

Dr. S N Vasudevan, Associate Director, Research and Development, University of Agriculture Sciences,Bengaluru explained about the journey of organic farming in India, in beginning, organic agriculture was started by a small number of innovative and progressive farmers, farmers’ groups, NGOs, civil society organizations in Karnataka state.

In this event 50 NSS Volunteers actively participated with NSS programme officer, Sheshadri S N &Smt. Syeda Nausheen Fathima, NSS Coordinator, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

REPORT ON SWACH VILLAGE ABHIYAN on 9th March 2021

In connection with Swach Bharath Abhiyan, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Swach Village Abhiyanprogram at NaganahalliVillage, Mysuru Taluk on 8thMarch 2021 in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath.

During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness in the village. After the drive, segregated the wet & solid waste and it was disposed in proper manner.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru and Village Panchayth Naganahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk jointly organized International Women’s Day-2021 on 8th March 2021 at Govt. High School premises, Naganahalli Village, Mysuru Taluk.

Dr, Dharmesh, Medical Officer, Govt. Hospital, Naganahalli was the Chief Guest of the event in his speech he emphasized that there is a need of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene especially to improve the women health quality. Followed by this, he enlightened on the facilities provided by Health and Family welfare Department, Govt. of Karnataka to improve the health of women and children. During this event Smt. Shaida Begum, Headmistress, Govt. High School, Naganahalli spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day she stressed that there is a great responsibility of the society to empower women to overcome the gender inequality.

The event was presided by Smt. Nagarathna, Vice president, Naganahalli village panchayath, in her presidential address she emphasized that now a day’s Women are indeed making the world to turn heads towards them because of their strength and participation in almost all fields.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized plantation program on 8th March 2021 at Naganahalli Village Govt. High School premises. The event was conducted in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath,Mysuru Taluk, Mysuru district.

As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribution to green and healthy environment students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru planted 40 saplings of different fruits and flowers varieties.

REPORT ON COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL MAINTENANCE AT  SSLC EXAMINATION CENTRE on 22nd July 2021

In connection with the SSLC Examinations scheduled on 19th and 22nd July 2021 especially in this pandemic situation of Covid-19 there is a need of taking more safety measures of students and teachers. In this regard Non Government organization Youth For Seva(YFS) came forward to support the State Government in conducting SSLC Examination by following Standard operating procedure(SOP) which was imposed by Govt. of Karnataka. Youth For Seva in association with VTU intended to coordinate the work of ensuring the COVID-19 safety protocol at all SSLC examination centers across Karnataka with the help of faculty members and students of colleges affiliated to VTU.
In this view, GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru affiliated to VTU, Belagavi has taken a great step to support this social concern by deputing vaccinated faculty members and student volunteers for ensuring safety measures at Maharaja’s Junior College, JLB Road, Mysuru on 19th and 22nd July 2021.

In connection with Swachh Survekshan-2020, Mysuru City Corporation appreciated the efforts of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women, Mysuru for providing more number of Swachhatha feedbacks and conducting more number of Swachhatha awareness campaigns in and around Mysuru city. In this regard a function was organized by Mysuru City Corporation on 12th March 2020. During this event NSS program officer Mr. Sheshadri S N, Assistant professor, Dept. of Chemistry and Smt. Syeeda Nausheen Fathima, Assistant professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering received the appreciation certificate and memento. Mayor Smt. Tasneem, Commissioner Sri Gurudath Hegde and Health officers Dr. Jayanth and Dr. Nagaraj present on the occasion.

As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribute towards green and healthy environment, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru had organized plants distribution program with the caption ‘One House One Plant’ on 13th October 2020 at Naganahalli Village in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk. Sri Channappa, Secretary, Naganahalli village panchayath was the chief guest of the event. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of plantation in current scenario. The purpose of tree plantation is to save the environment and to beautify our life. Trees are valuable gifts of nature they are known as the best friends of human beings. He suggested the villagers to look after the saplings by watering them. He appreciated the efforts of GSSSIETW towards nurturing Mother Nature. During this event, 100 saplings of different verities were distributed to the villagers.

In connection with the wide spread of COVID-19 across the Globe as a part of social responsibility and as a support in fight against the Global Pandemic, National Service Scheme Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru distributed the essential safety materials to Police Stations and Urban Primary Health Centres of Mysuru city on 9th July 2020.
During this event the essential safety materials like Face covers (Masks), Hand Sanitizers & Hand washing solution of worth Rs.12,000/- was distributed to Police Stations of Metagalli and VV Puram extension, Traffic Police Station of VV Puram extension & Urban Primary Health Centres of Saraswathipuram & Kuvempunagar extensions.

On the eve of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s 185th Birth anniversary, Basic Science Department & NSS Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru jointly organized a Special talk on ‘Personality Development and Motivation towards Success’ by Poojya Sri Dr. Shantharathananda Ji Maharaj, Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru on Monday 17th February 2020.
In his talk he emphasized the importance Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts in shaping the overall personality of young Indians. He enlightened on the Positive attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal.

NSS Volunteers of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru, participated in one day Personality development workshop on Soft skills and Life skills with a tagline ‘YUVASPURNA’ on Thursday 27th February 2020. The workshop was conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru on the eve of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s 185th Birth anniversary at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Poojya Mukthidanandaji Maharaj, President, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru. In his talk he emphasized the importance of cultivating good habits by reading books and listening the words of great personalities in young age will take our life to greater heights.
The second session was delivered by Mr. Subramanyam, Director, Sri Srinivasa Ramanujm Institute, Mysuru. In his presentation he enlightened on the Positive attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal. Followed by this he spoke about the importance of soft skills for
The last session was delivered by Sri S S Ramesh, Professor, RIMSE, Mysuru on Youth empowerment in the eyes of Swami Vivekananda. In his talk he suggested students not to feel shy and inferiority complex practice cultivate the habit of understanding the things in scientific way by questioning.
After the event students visited the Museum situated in Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education, Mysuru. In this program 75 NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW were actively participated along with NSS programme officer Sheshadri S N and Dr. Renuka N, Asst. professor, Dept. of Chemistry, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru celebrated the Constitution Day on 26th November 2019 a day with unique historical significance, as it was on this day in 1949 the Indian Constitution was adopted and thereafter it came into force on January 26th 1950. All first year students of GSSSIETW have taken the “Constitution Day Pledge”, towards resolving all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to physical violence in the case of any dispute. NSS program officer Sheshadri S N gave brief introduction about importance of Constitution Day Celebration. During this occasion, Dr.Bellappa S Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry emphasised the importance of fulfilling our responsibilities before preserving our rights. Followed by this he administered constitution day oath to the students. Students wholeheartedly participated to accomplish the pledge.

 With the Motto of NSS was launched on the 100th birthday of MahatmaGandhi as a Youth Service Programmein 1969 by the Govt. of India

DONATION COLLECTION DRIVE TO ORPHANAGE-CHIGURU

In connection with the Benefit Drama Show Valivadhe (A Play based on Kuvempu’s Ramyana Darshanam) organized by an orphanage Chiguru which is specially working for the betterment of mentally disabled women, running by Smt. Sushma, Social activist, Koorgalli, Mysuru. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized donation collection drive from 4th October 2019 to 12th October 2019. During this drive students and staff members of GSSSIETW, Mysuru wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.16800/- by purchasing 168 drama tickets each of worth Rs.100/-. The collected amount was handed over to Sri Mahendra S Orphanage Incharge on 12th October 2019.

FLOOD RELIEF FUND COLLECTION DRIVE

In connection with Heavy flood in North Karnataka & Coorg District, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized a donation collection drive in campus from 19th to 30th August 2019. Students and staff wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.14, 224/-.  The collected donation was contributed to affected people through Chief Minister Relief fund for Natural calamity.

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized an awareness talk on “Swach Bharath Abhiyan” on 19th August 2019 at 10.30 AM. Prof. Shashikala, Professor in Zoology and Environmentalist, Mysuru was the Chief Guest of the event. In her talk, she emphasized the importance of Swach Bharath Abhiyan Program in the upliftment of quality of life. Followed by this, she advised students to join hands wholeheartedly for the successful implementation of this program. She suggested students to separate wet & solid waste in a proper manner to dispose it in a scientific way. During this event, she administered the Swach Bharath Abhiyan pledge to the students.

AWARENESS TALK ON “TRAFFIC RULES & ROAD SAFETY”

NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized an awareness talk on Traffic Rules and Road Safety on 21st August 2019 at 2 PM. Sri B G Prakash, Inspector, Traffic Police Station,VV Mohalla, Mysuru was the Guest Speaker in his talk he explained the importance of traffic signs and road rules.
Traffic signs give information about the road conditions and provide instructions to be followed at the major crossroads, junctions and act as a guide to drivers and ensure proper functioning of road traffic. In India a person is supposed to be familiar with the traffic signs and symbols before acquiring a driving license. Over 15, 0000 people in India are killed every year due to traffic accidents. India has one of the highest rates of accidents in the whole world. One of the prime reasons for these accidents is negligence of road safety norms and traffic signs. Having awareness about road safety norms and traffic signs are an absolute necessity in today’s time.

World Water Day is celebrated on every year 22nd March 2019 to create awareness about water conservation for future. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW & Village Panchayath Siddalingapura Jointly organized World water Day-2019 at Govt. Higher Primary School premises, Siddalingapura Village. Sri Boregowda N N, Panchayath Development Officer, Siddalingapura was the Chief Guest of the event. In his speech he emphasized the importance of saving water resources for our future generations. Sri Prakash A S Head Master, Govt. Higher Primary School, Siddalingapura spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize the water scarcity, water pollution, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation, and the impact on climate change. NSS volunteers shared their views regarding the water crisis.

In connection with Lokasabha Elections-2019, voting awareness campaign was conducted by NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru in association with Siddalingapura Village Panchayath at Siddalingapura village on 22nd March 2019. In this awareness drive 57 NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW stepped forward to spread the word about the importance of Voting and right to vote. During this event students took oath to exercise their valuable right given by Constitution of India and also encourage other people to vote with awareness.

NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW  participated in National level Youth Conclave ‘Udvikas-2019’ organized by Youth for Seva organization, Bengaluru in association with Christ University, Bengaluru on 2nd March 2019 at RV Dental College, JP Nagar, Bengaluru.  ‘Udvikas-2019’ was an event with the vision of nurturing mindful volunteering practices among students. It was a platform for Students, Institutions and NGOs from diverse regions to learn the unique and more effective practices that can be adopted to serve for the betterment of society.   Talk by eminent personalities, Group discussions and Debate were organized during the event. The event was helpful to the students in their overall development.

In connection with the Health checkup camp organized by NSS Unit of Simmha Subbamahalakshmi First grade College, Mysuru at Chatnahalli Palya Village, Varuna Hobli, Mysuru Taluk on 20th February 2019. NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru joined its hands to create awareness on Health and Cleanliness among villagers. NSS volunteers motivated the villagers to take part in the health checkup camp.

Doctors from JSS Multi Speciality Hospital, Mysuru and Annapoorna Eye Hospital, Sharadadevi Nagar, Mysuru conducted general health checkup to the villagers, gave prescriptions and advised to take necessary steps to stay healthy. NSS volunteers assisted the villagers and doctors for the success of health checkup camp.
During this event NSS volunteers of both the institutions and faculty members were present.

 

Flood relief fund collection drive

In connection with heavy flood in Coorg district, NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Coorg Relief fund collection drive. Students and Staff members wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.25, 000/- towards Coorg relief fund. The donation was contributed to affected people through Kodava Samaja, Mysuru on 6th September 2018. Sadbhavan Day Pledge

In connection with circular BGM/BSG/GEN/2018-19/3882, dated 13th August 2018 by VTU, Belagavi, regarding Sadbhavan Day celebration to commemorate the Birth anniversary of Sri Rajeev Gandhi, Ex. Prime Minister of India. All first year students of GSSSIETW have taken the “Sadbhavan day Pledge” on 20th August 2018, towards resolving all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence. NSS program officer Sheshadri S N gave brief introduction about importance of Sadbhavan Day Celebration and Dr.Bellappa S Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry gave oath to the students. Students wholeheartedly participated to accomplish the pledge.

In connection with Swach Bharath Abhiyan, NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized Swach Campus Abhiyan on 21st August 2018 from 2 PM to 3.30 PM. During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness in the campus. After the drive, segregated wet & solid waste and it was disposed in proper manner.

. All the first year students were actively participated in the event. Sheshadri S N, NSS programme officer, Yogitha N, NSS Coordinator & Harish Gowda B N, Physical education Director, GSSSIETW, Mysuru were present on this occasion.

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized an awareness talk on “Swach Bharath Abhiyan” on 27th August 2018 at 10.30 AM. Prof. Shashikala, Professor in Zoology and Environmentalist, Mysuru was the Chief Guest of the event. In her talk, she emphasized the importance of Swach Bharath Abhiyan Program in the upliftment of quality of life. Followed by this, she advised students to join hands wholeheartedly for the successful implementation of this program. She suggested students to separate wet & solid waste in a proper manner to dispose it in a scientific way. During this event, she administered the Swach Bharath Abhiyan pledge to the students.

All the first year students were actively participated in the event. Report on Swacchatha Pakhwada-2018

In connection with observation of Swacchatha Pakhwada-2018 proposed by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. of India. NSS unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Swach Bharath Abhiyan program at Sri Venkateshwara Temple premises Karighatta village, Srirangapatna Taluk , Mandy district on 3rd September 2018.

During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness in the temple premises. After the drive, segregated wet & solid waste and it was disposed in proper manner.
All the first year students and staff were actively participated in this event.

NSS Special Camp-2018

NSS unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru conducted an NSS Special Camp-2018 from 10th November 2018 to 12th November 2018 at Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Kenchanahalli Village campus, HD Kote Taluk, Mysore district with a motto of service and personality development. Thirty nine NSS Volunteers from various departments of GSSSIETW are actively participated in this camp along with NSS Program Officer Sheshadri SN and NSS Coordinator Yogitha N.

• An orientation program on SVYM Hospital, Sargur. A hospital specially working for tribal people. Students visited various departments of hospital and interacted with staff and patients.
• After the orientation there was a common health checkup program to all volunteers.

• After this student visited Viveka school of Excellence- A rural CBSE School which provides quality education for students at affordable cost initiated in the year 2002 by SVYM. The school works with the vision of “Education to be Life Building, Man Making, Character building and Assimilation of Ideas".
• NSS Volunteers interacted with the school students and shared their ideas about the National Service Scheme. There was a Science Exhibition held at the school which provided scientific ideas that which can be applied to daily life.

• NSS volunteers visited to Science Park situated in the Viveka School campus, Sargur an exclusive science park having more than 40 live experiments.

• Students visited Prakruthi food products unit run by tribal self help women groups and interacted with women working in that unit regarding production, sales and coordination in work.

• Students visited Vivekananda tribal school situated at Hosahalli village, H D Kote Taluk specially for tribal children in order to bring them to main stream. There our students interacted with tribal school children.

• Students interacted with Sri Prasanna, Environmentalist regarding life in forest areas, ecological system, problems which wild animals are facing and by forest adjacent villagers.

• The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Dennis Chauhan, Head, Socio Economic Empowerment Program, SVYM, sargur. In his Inaugural speech he emphasized the importance of NSS activities in personality development. Followed by this he gave an elaborate lecture on Health awareness and hygiene. NSS Program officer Sheshadri SN and NSS coordinator Yogitha N and staff of SVYM were present on this occasion.

Events on Second day: 

11th November 2018

• NSS Flag hoisting was done at morning 6am at SVYM, Kenchanahalli Village campus followed by saluting the flag with NSS and National anthem.

• After flag hoisting students took NSS pledge. The pledge was administered by NSS Program Officer.
• Light exercise and Yoga was performed by students.

• An event “Run for unity” was conducted to exhibit the Power of Youth and also to prove that the NSS volunteers are always ready to serve the Nation. Many awareness rallies are conducted across nation with this tagline.
• There a Swach Bharath drive was conducted in Balavikas Kendra and Govt. Primary school campus. During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness of the premises. After the drive, segregated wet & solid waste and it was disposed in proper manner with the help of Villagers.

• After the cleaning drive students interacted with villagers and created awareness about health hygiene, importance of education and ill effects of drug and alcohol consumption.
• The volunteers visited each house of tribal and enquired about the life style and facilities available from the government. Many suggestions as well as the guidance were given to the people about the bank account, Adhar card, Voter id and their benefits.

• The Volunteers distributed the daily needs such as diapers, medicines, soaps; shampoo Blankets, books and pens to the really needful tribal community people.

• Smt. Vanaja.B .Pandit, Hon Secretary of GSSS( R ), Smt. Anupama.B.pandit Administrative officer, GSSSIETW and  Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal  GSSSIETW visited the SVYM campus and had a interaction session with the Volunteers and spent their valuable time by encouraging the students to participate in more social service.

• During this visit Hon. Secretary madam distributed sweets and Book ‘Spoorthi' a book from Ramakrishna ashram containing Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts to all students and faculties to motivate them to work more towards the society.

Events on Third day: 

12th November 2018

NSS volunteers Preethu K and Bhoomika T S of 4th Semester Electrical and Electronics Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru were participated in 7days "National Integration Camp" held at NSS Bhavan, University of Mysore, Mysuru. The camp was organized by Karnataka state Youth Empowerment and Sports Department in association with Govt. First Grade College, Siddhartha Nagar, Mysuru from 20th to 26th August 2018.

The camp was inaugurated by Chief guest Poojya Sri Athmajnandaji Maharaj, President Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru in the presence of Prof. C Basavaraju, Vice chancellor, University of Mysore & Sri A N Pujar Regional Director, NSS, Govt. of Karnataka. During the camp various activities were conducted which helped overall development of the individual. About 100 NSS volunteers from various universities of South India were actively participated in the camp. The Camp was concluded on 26th March 2018.

NSS Volunteers of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru, participated in an awareness program conducted by Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology Mysuru. The event was held on Thursday 15th February 2018 at 9.30AM in the premises of Bharath Cancer Hospital, Mysuru with the theme “Freedom from Cancer” in order to create awareness on Cancer disease among public. The event was inaugurated by Dr.Prasad, Senior Regional Consultant, Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust, Govt. of Karnataka by releasing 500 air balloons. In his inaugural speech he emphasized the importance of event in order to create awareness about Cancer disease especially among youth.

Dr.Santhrupth, Director, Gopala Gowda Hospital, Mysuru, Dr. Vishweshwara, Medical Superindent, Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology Mysuru & Dr.Sallauddin, Principal, Farooqia Pharmacy College,Mysuru were graced the occasion.

In this awareness program 94 NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW were actively participated along with NSS programme officer Sheshadri S N, & Yogitha N, NSS Coordinator GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

NSS Volunteers of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for women, Mysuru, participated in one day Personality development workshop “VIKASANA” on Saturday 3rd March 2018. The workshop was conducted in association with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (VLEAD), Mysuru at VLEAD campus, Hebbal, Mysuru.
The Workshop begins with the Session on Personality Development & Swami Vivekananda thoughts by Dr. A J Dhananjaya, Former Principal, Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education, Mysuru. In his talk he emphasized the importance of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts to the current generation.
The second session on Attitude and Motivation was delivered by Mr. Sudarshan, Director, VLEAD, Mysuru. In his presentation he enlightened on the Positive Attitude and Motivation which is required in order to achieve the desired goal. During this event after group discussion Students gave the presentation on personality development.
In this program 20 NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW were actively participated along with NSS programme officer Sheshadri S N.

World Cancer Day 
Date: 6th Feb.2016

On the eve of “World Cancer Day” NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women participated in “Motorcycle rally & Walkathon” on 6th Feb.2016 organized by Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology.  NSS volunteers of GSSSIETW created awareness among the public and visited Hospital & Institute of Oncology. NSS volunteers, Rashmi H M  NSS programme officer were actively participated.

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized Donation of stationeries and daily needs at Pejavara Vuchitha Sarvajanika Vidyarthi Nilaya, J.P.Nagara, Mysuru. About 100 NSS volunteers were participated. Programme was inaugurated by smt. Vijaya, J.P.Nagara, Mysuru. In her speech she explained about status of the students in that hostel and their problems. Rashmi H M  NSS programme officer, Sheshadri S N  NSS Coordinator were also present.

 

Drawing Competition  

Date: 14th April 2016

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women organized Drawing Competition for students at Pejavara Vuchitha Sarvajanika Vidyarthi Nilaya, J.P.Nagara, Mysuru. The Programme was inaugurated by Sri. Keshav, J.P.Nagara, Mysuru. About  60 students of primary to high school were participated in competition and  About 100 NSS volunteers were participated in the event. Rashmi H M  NSS programme officer, Sheshadri S N  NSS Coordinator were also present.

World Earth day(22nd April) Celebration
Date: 26th April 2016

NSS Unit of GSSSIET for women celebrated World Earth day by organizing Environmental Protection Programme at GSSSIETW, Mysuru . Programme was inaugurated by T C Devanath, Environmentalist, Karnataka state environment award winner-2000. In his speech he spoke about environmental studies, environmental protection and pollutions. About 100 NSS volunteers were participated along with 1st year B.E. students and faculty members of GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

In connection with the wide spread of COVID-19 across the Globe as a part of social responsibility Unnat Bharat Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru organized an awareness program on COVID-19 followed by the event distributed the essential materials to Village Panchayaths & Primary Health Centres of adopted villages on 27th May 2020with the assistance of organization and government.
During this event the awareness program was given by Dr. Suresh, Medical Officer, Palahalli PHC after this essential materials like Face covers (Masks), Hand Sanitizers & Hand washing solution of worth Rs.10,000/- was distributed to Village Panchayath Offices & Primary Health Centres of Siddalingapura, Naganahalli & Palahalli villages which are adopted villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme, Govt. of India.
The event was supported by Smt.Vanaja B Pandit, Hon. Secretary, GSSS (R), Sri R K Bharath, CEO, GSSS(R), Smt. UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN

Introduction:

Ministry of Human Resources Development(MHRD), Government of India has launched the program Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA), a National Program with the vision to involve professional and other higher educational institutions of the country in the development process of Gram Panchayats so as to enable village cluster to achieve sustainable development and better quality of life. Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi has been designated to be the National Coordinating Institute (CI) by Ministry of Human Resource development (MHRD) for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA) and represented by National Coordinator, UBA at IIT, New Delhi.
GSSSIETW, Mysuru is a premier Engineering College in Karnataka joined its hands as a Participating Institute (PI) in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme by adopting the following 5 villages to strengthen the quality of life.
1. Siddalingapura
2. Palahalli
3. Kesare
4. Naganahalli
5. Belavetta

After adopting the villages, UBA coordinators of the institute has conducted a survey about infrastructure, Basic amenities like Connectivity Roads, Educational institutions, Electrical requirements, Drinking water facility and UGD facility available in the adopted villages. Based on the survey reports several activities were conducted in the adopted villages as per the guidelines of UBA.

Unnat Bharath Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized an awareness program to villagers on “Water conservation & Rain water harvesting in current scenario” at Siddalingapura Village on 17th August 2019 in association with Siddalingapura Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk.
Sri Ramesh Kikkeri, Director, Civil Engineering Division, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Mysuru was the Guest speaker. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of saving water resources for our future generations. Followed by this he spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize the water scarcity, water pollution, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation, and the impact on climate change. There was an interaction program with villagers about water crisis and Rain water harvesting implementation in current scenario. After the talk students go around the village interacted with villagers about the water crisis.

In connection with Swach Bharath Abhiyan, UBA & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized Swach Village Abhiyan program at Siddalingapura Village, Mysuru Taluk on 17th August 2019 in association with Siddalinga pura Village Panchayath. During this drive, students were involved in maintaining cleanliness in the village. After the drive, segregated the wet & solid waste and it was disposed in proper manner.
In this drive 45 students actively participated along with Sheshadri S N & Chethan KS UBA coordinators, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

In connection with the AICTE circular AICTE/P&AP/Tree-plantation/2019 regarding conduction of plantation program in AICTE recognized institutes with a tagline ‘One student-One Tree’ initiative, Unnat Bharath Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized plantation program at Kesare village, Mysuru Taluk in association with Siddalingapura Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk.
As a responsibility towards Mother Nature and to contribution to green and healthy environment students of GSSSIETW, Mysuru planted 50 saplings of different varieties at Kesare village common utility field.

Unnat Bharath Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized an awareness program to villagers on “Solid waste management in current scenario” at Naganahalli Village on 17th September 2019 in association with Naganahalli Village Panchayath, Mysuru Taluk.
Dr. Sakala, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Engineering, BMSIT, Bengaluru & Advisor, KSPCB, Bengaluru was the Guest speaker. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of solid waste collection and scientific disposal methods employed for the protection of the environment and health of the population. Solid or liquid waste if it is not processed properly before disposing, that will cause air and water pollution. Rotting garbage will produce harmful gases that mix with the air and leads to breathing problems. Scientific waste treatment will save earth for our future generations. Followed by this she spoke about the relevant measures that has to be taken in order to minimize and to manage solid waste. There was an interaction program with villagers about solid waste collection and management in current scenario. After the talk students went around the village interacted with villagers about the solid waste management system.

Unnat Bharath Abhiyan & NSS Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru jointly organized an awareness program to villagers on “Effects of plastic pollution on Environment” at Palahalli Village on 18th October 2019 in association with Palahalli Village Panchayath, Srirangapatna Taluk, Mandya District.
Prof. Shashikala, Retd. Professor in Zoology and Environmentalist, Mysuru was the Guest speaker. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of plastic waste collection and scientific disposal methods employed for the protection of the environment and health of the population. Plastic as a synthetic polymer substitute of natural materials has become an essential aspect of our lives. We have witnessed the considerable increase in the production and consumption of plastic materials from past few decades. Scientific studies proved that consuming plastic leads to cancer, effect on hormone level and heart diseases. In this regard proper awareness about the plastic usage has to be created. Followed by this she talk about the effective measures that has to be taken in order to dispose the plastic waste, if it is not processed properly before disposing that will cause air and water pollution. There was an interaction program with villagers about plastic waste collection and management in current scenario. After the talk students went around the village interacted with villagers about the effects of plastic waste on human health and environment.

Youth Red Cross (YRC) Units

Aims & Importance of Youth Red Cross Unit

The Youth Red Cross is most important constituent of its mother organization Indian Red Cross Society. Youth Red Cross aims at inculcating the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross movement, such as Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality. The Youth Red Cross is organized with a view to develop and deploy student youth resource for working towards these principles.

It also aims at inculcating in youth the ideals and practice of service especially in relation to:

• Taking care of their own health and that of others.
• Understanding and accepting civic responsibility.
• Promotion of National and International Understanding and goodwill by using their International link of the movement.
• Promotion of Volunteerism.

With the above mentioned ideals GSSSIETW, Mysuru started Youth Red Cross Unit during the academic year 2018-19. The activities conducted during ODD Semester are as below.

Flood relief fund collection drive

In connection with heavy flood in Coorg district, Youth Red Cross Unit of GSSSIETW, Mysuru organized Coorg Relief fund collection drive in its MBA department. Students and Staff members of MBA department wholeheartedly contributed an amount of Rs.10, 000/- towards Coorg relief fund. The donation was contributed to affected people through Kodava Samaja, Mysuru on 6th September 2018. GSSSIETW is mainly built to educate women’s towards engineering & technology domain. Apart from different facilities offered at GSSSIETW, the institution also offers additional facilities for providing entrepreneurship opportunities to the students through the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)

He has delivered many lectures on Entrepreneurship, wellness and soft skills.

His Entrepreneurial Highlights includes:

• Himalayan SaltCrystal Cave - is a first-of-its-kind preventive therapy center in Mysuru for Relaxation, Revitalization & Rejuvenation and Enhancement of Wellness.

• Bio-Well, measures the human energy field.

He emphasized on the need for Entrepreneurship and appraised all the students to be “Job creators rather than job seekers”. He also mentioned that women entreprenuers can be better Entrepreneurs than men as they have better skill set to take up risk and can work on multidimensional tasks with more patience.

Dr.Pai in his talk provided various inputs on the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur. According to him, Successful entrepreneur should have the following characteristics

He quoted many success stories, thoughts of great visionaries and scientists who have put their heart and soul in their achievement. Dr. Pai shared his personal experience as entrepreneur and advised the students on certain thoughts which they need to ponder on. According to him, an entrepreneur should be an all-rounder rather than a first-ranker, should always hope for the best and prepare for the worst, should be positive, pragmatic and proactive and is a one who makes a choice for better society and economic growth of the country by removing poverty.

National level Women Entrepreneurship Conclave(WeCon) held on 3rd & 4th September 2018 at Bengaluru

Two day  National  Level Women Entrepreneurship Conclave (WeCon) was jointly organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the International Institute of Waste Management (IIWM), a non-profit organization of India on 3rd and 4th September 2018 at Jain University Bengaluru,  to promote and motivate 3500+ girl students in the field of waste management business & encourage entrepreneurship amongst young graduates.

The main Objective of the conference was

• To know the technical know-how & potential of Green Technologies & Waste Management Entrepreneurship possibilities.
• To get exposed to various Funding avenues.
• Launching of online portal link to various budding entrepreneurs.
• To share success stories of successful women entrepreneurs in the form of presentations.
• To motivate women students to become financially independent.
• To encourage innovations in waste management sector which will help in cost effective clean India.

The First day event was inaugurated by the Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE. Entrepreneurial ability assessment tests were provided online to test entrepreneurial skills of the participants. The second day events were inaugurated by Smt. Madhuri Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson, and Foundation for Holistic Development in Academic Field. The inauguration was followed by felicitation to eminent women who have worked in the waste management sector.

Five students from different departments of GSSSIETW have participated in the conference and presented their ideas related to waste management.

Silicon Road has been striving to create a sustainable startup eco-system in Mysuru and as part of its ongoing campaign to create entrepreneurship awareness and help early-stage startups, Silicon Road conducted an Academic Bootcamp Program from 9th of February for about 3-4 weekends. This program was designed for students who want to be future entrepreneurs, students who were extremely passionate about changing the world, students who had ideas, students looking for guidance, and who were seeking mentorship from the industry leaders. All academic institutions in Mysuru participated in this program. Three students from GSSSIETW participated in the program. Antarprerana-Idea Presentation competition

One day Idea Presentation Competition –ANTARPRERANA-2019, sponsored by the Entrepreneurs Development Institute of India, Gujarat was jointly organized by the ED Cell (EDC) and Institution innovation cell (IIC) of GSSSIETW for the students of all departments of GSSSIETW on 29th April 2019. The function was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr.Santosh Tulasi a mentor, advisor and entrepreneur of SHAAST group, Bengaluru. In his inaugural address, he appreciated the initiation taken by GSSSIETW in conducting such competitions which would help the students to come out with innovative ideas thereby improving their entrepreneurial skill set. This event was a part of a one year long entrepreneurship program organised by GSSSIETW in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) , a National level apex institution involved in training, research and education in entrepreneurship. EDII is promoted by IDBI Bank, SBI, ICICI Ltd, IFCI Ltd and Govt of India. 28 engineering students had undergone training in this one year program. The important objective of this program was to develop entrepreneur mindset among the students which would empower them to either start their own business or to mold themselves as “Intrapreneurs” / “Corporate Entrepreneurs”, which shall enhance their placement opportunities.
Mr.Yeshaswi Nag, Program Manager India start ups, Bengaluru and Program Coordinator for EDII one year entrepreneurship program at GSSSIETW addressed the students on the main objective of ANTARPRERANA 2019. Dr.M.Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW in his presidential address highlighted the existence of MSME incubation center at the institute and motivated students to develop good ideas so that the institute shall provide an opportunity to students to incubate the ideas in MSME incubation center. Mr.R.K.Bharath CEO and Management committee member graced the occasion.
21 batches from different branches of engineering presented their ideas in the competition and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 were awarded to the first and second place winners. Dr.S.Padmashree, Professor Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Dr.Raviraj.P, Professor Department of Computer Science Engineering were the coordinators of this event.

Launch of Entrepreneurship program at GSSSIETW on 9th April 2018

A one year program on entrepreneurship and business management was launched at GSSSIETW college on 9th April 2018. Thirty participants have enrolled in the program, including 26 students and 4 faculty members. The program is being conducted by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), a National level apex institution promoted by IDBI Bank Ltd, SBI, ICICI Ltd, IFCI Ltd and Govt of Gujarat.

The objective of the training program is to develop entrepreneurial engineers, who by developing the entrepreneur skills, shall become the leaders / achievers in their future endeavors, although there shall be more focus on promoting technology startups among the students. The inputs of the training program will be:

• Steps in starting an enterprise – Statutory aspects, registrations, licenses, whom to contact for what etc.
• Developing self as Entrepreneurial – Entrepreneur competencies, Simulation Exercises etc. with experiential learning
• Idea Generation – How to generate innovative ideas, Problem Solving, Scouting for Business Opportunities etc.
• Feasibility Study and Market Research – Finding out the feasible business opportunity. Conducting a Market Research. Data Analysis. Converting Ideas to Proof of Concept.
• Writing a Business Plan – How to write a business plan
• Business Pitch to Angel Investors – Angel Investors shall be engaged and the students will pitch their ideas to the Angel Investors, so that viable ideas shall be funded
• Inputs on Business Management – HR Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Digital Marketing, LEAN Management, IPR, Export Business etc
• Business Lab – The student teams shall start a business and run it for two months and present their P&L statement, Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet for those two months, with cash rewards for top three businesses

All these inputs will be given in a phase wise manner, to ensure quality inputs and result oriented training.

With these inputs, the participants will get all the necessary training to develop themselves as “Corporate Entrepreneurs” who are the first choice for the employers / corporates.

The sessions will be handled by experienced faculties from EDII and other agencies such as IIM-B, NID, DRDO, Innovation experts, Management experts, Angel Investors, Bankers, Export Promotion Council etc.

 A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Gujarat and GSSSIETW on Jan 31st 2017.

Upcoming Event

In continuation to the collaboration made between EDII and GSSS, an “ Open Learning Program in Entrepreneurship and Business Management” is going to be launched in the month of April 2018 for the students.

2. The students will be molded as entrepreneurial managers / employees / corporate entrepreneurs, which is the need of the hour in the present competitive era.

• Steps in Starting an Enterprise - Statutory Requirements, Company Registrations etc.

• Business Plan Preparation & Interaction with Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists for Funding support for the Start ups
• Government Agencies involved in supporting Entrepreneurship and Schemes offered by them
• Marketing Strategies along with Digital Marketing etc.

• Small Business Management - LEAN Management, Kaizen Management, Export Marketing, Trademark, IPR etc.

These inputs will be provided by EDI faculties and designated faculties from EDI, from different Government research agencies such as DRDO, CSIR, IIM, NID, DIC, NSIC, Export Promotion Council etc. and external Resource Persons such as Angel Investors, Bankers, IPR, Trademark Office etc.

EDI will arrange for nearly 70 hours of faculty inputs for the program. The course will also include industrial visits (travel arrangements should be made from the college

• A grant of Rs 1, 00,000 was sanctioned by Department of Science and Technology (DST) to conduct awareness camps for promoting entrepreneurship to students. Subsequently five entrepreneurship awareness camp was conducted in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII),Gujarat during the years 2017 and 2018.

GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru has organized Three Days Workshop on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC)” from 17th to 19th January 2018 under Entrepreneurship Development Forum. This camp is supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) & Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi and sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The resource persons for this EAC are from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) regional office, Bangalore. The students from various degree colleges across Mysore region have participated in this workshop.

The primary aim of this camp is to make the participating students aware of entrepreneurship and provide basic knowledge about it. The objective of the camp is to guide and motivate the young students to take up entrepreneurship as their career.
On this occasion, the chief guest of the camp Sri. Ebnazer James, Project Coordinator, EDI, Bangalore. addressed the gathering about the latest advancements in entrepreneurial activities and motivated the participants to develop the entrepreneur qualities.
Successful Entrepreneurs and Resource Persons from various sectors like EDI, Miraco Media Pvt ltd Technologies, Lead Bank SBM, District Industry Centre and CFTRI have highlighted the need of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur Competencies, Business Opportunities, Steps in starting enterprise and Financial support.

Around 50 students of Mysore region various degree college have attended the Thee days Workshop on Entrepreneurship Awareness.

GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru had organized Three Days Workshop on “Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC)” from 26th to 28th February 2018 under Entrepreneurship Development Forum. This camp was supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) & Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi and sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Ahmadabad, Gujarat. The resource persons for this EAC were from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) regional office, Bangalore. The students from various branches of Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru participated in this workshop.

The primary aim of this camp was to make the participating students aware of entrepreneurship and provide basic knowledge about it. The objective of the camp was to guide and motivate the young students to take up entrepreneurship as their career.
On this occasion, the chief guest of the camp Sri. Radhakrishna, Placement Trainer, Bosch Ltd., Bangalore addressed the gathering about the latest advancements in entrepreneurial activities and motivated the participants to develop the entrepreneur qualities.

Successful Entrepreneurs from Miraco Media Pvt. Ltd., Exquisite Handicrafts and Best Corrugators highlighted the need of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur Competencies, Business Opportunities, Steps in starting enterprise and Financial support.

• Held on 23rd and 24th March 2015 in GSSSIETW, mysuru
• It is conducted on behalf of EDC as an event under Geethayaana 2015.
• It is conducted exclusively for GSSSIETW students.
• Around 13 ideas were presented during prelims and 5 best teams were chosen for the final rounds.
• In the final rounds, Meghana B R and team from IV semester CSE has won the “Excellence in Entrepreneurship” award.
• Prof. Ganesh from Department of MBA, GSSSIETW was there as main judging panelist during the final rounds.

Technoxian – A National level championship

• In association with IIT, Delhi and Time Global Group, New delhi
• Date : 12th , 13th and 14th of March 2015
• Around 344 students from various engineering colleges from in and around mysuru have attended the workshop

Cultural Activities – 2021-22

• Group of 21 Students participated in “PRATHIBHOTSAVA”,21st VTU Youth Festival organized by BMS college of Engineering, Bengaluru from 29th July to 31st July 2022, Students Participated in Various events like, Skit, Mime, Classical Solo Dance, Light Vocal Solo, Western Vocal Solo, Elocution, Debate, Cartooning and Collage, Our Students Won Third Prize in MIME event out of 35 teams, GSSSIETW is the only institute in Mysore Zone to Won Prize in this Fest.

    

  

  

• Group of 23 Students were participated in “VIDYARTHI SAMSKRUTHI CHALUVALI-2022” organized by Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishath (ABVP) at KSOU ground, Mysuru on 13th and 14th May 2022, Students Participated in various events like Group Patriotic song, Kannada Poetry, Speech, Essay and Cultural Parade.

  

  

• Four students were participated in ROTARY SINGING ICON-2022 organized by Mysuru Music Club from Dec 2021 to Feb 2022, Out of around 200 Participants , Chandana S of 5th sem ECE, Selected for Final of Top 15 Contestants, and received the Participation certificate and Gift hamper

  

•  BEML, Mysuru has organized Elocution Competition as a part of “Vigilance Awareness Week” on 22nd October 2021, in both English and Kannada Language, 21 students participated in the event, Thanushree M N-5th Sem CSE won 1st  Prize, Thanushree R -3rd Sem EEE won 2nd prize, Avina Ancilla Dsouza -3rd Sem ECE won 3rd prize in Kannada Language. Akhila S M-7th Sem EEE won 1st Prize, Shamitha M V-3rd Sem EEE won 2nd Prize, Shruthi A S- 3rd Sem CSE won 3rd prize in English language. The Cultural club of GSSSIETW conducted a Dandiya event on the occasion of Navaratri for the students of the cultural club on 25th of October 2019.

The Principal, Dr. M Shivakumar, inaugurated the event and spoke a few encouraging words.

The main coordinators of the cultural club, Dr. Vinay Venugopal and Prof.Venkataseshaiah B were present along with the faculty coordinators, Professor Sanjay.S.C , Professor Navya and Professor P R Nagashri.
Miss Harshitha M of 3rd sem CSE dept. and Miss Shraddha of 3rd sem ECE dept. were the MOCs of the event.
The venue for the event was ‘D’ Block Open Air Auditorium, from 3 to 4:30 pm.
There were almost 200 participants totally from all the semesters of the college. The participants came in Ethnic wear and brought dandiyas along with them for the event.

The students enjoyed the event and it went successfully. We received positive feedback from the students.

Essay competition n the account of 50th engineer’s day :
In connection with circular dated 5th August 2017, Institute of Engineers, Mysore Local Centre celebrating 50th Engineer’s Day on 15th September to commemorate the birthday of Sir.Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraiah. 16 students of GSSSIET for Women have participated in Essay writing competition on theme “ROLE OF ENGINEERS IN DEVELOPING INDIA” at GSSSIETW campus on 19th August 2017. Students wholeheartedly participated to express their thoughts on theme in writing.

“B V Karanth Rangothsava:
GSSSIETW, Mysuru students were participated in “B V Karanth Rangothsava” at Rangayana Mysuru from 25th to 28th September, 2017. And also students has performed the play “ALAMELAMMANA SHAAPA” on 28th September, 2017, at Bhumigeetha, Rangayana, Mysuru. The students are actively participated in the cultural event and delivered wonderful on stage performance and audience applauds our students performance.

Vigilance Awareness Week-2017:
With reference to CANARA BANK, Vigilance Awareness week, 2017, GSSSIETW, Mysuru observed vigilance awareness day on 25th October- 2017 by organizing essay competitions for the students on the theme “MY VISSION- CORRUPTION FREE INDIA”.
The chief guest Sri Mrudulla, Manager, Canara Bank, Mysuru gave a speech on awareness amongst the youth of the nation to adopt high moral values and requested them to fight against the corruption at various levels of finance and other related fields.

Kannada Rajyothsava Celebration was held on 02nd November 2017
Department of Chemistry, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, organized Kannada Rajyothsava Celebration - 2017 on 02nd November 2017 at M Govinda Rao Memorial Hall. The programme was presided by Smt. Vanaja B Pandit, Honarary Secretary, GSSS(R), Mysuru. During this occasion, students performed various cultural events like Bharathanatyam, Violin, Group song and Drama (Alumellammana Shaapa). The program was ended by the National Anthem.

Kum. Kavya. M of I CSE has welcomed the gathering and Dr. A T Eswara, Prof and Head of the Department of Mathematics declared opening of the competitions. Students of all branches actively participated in the event and presented their views far and against the subject in the debate competition and students wrote their thoughts with some beautiful examples in the essay competition.
Prof A T Eswara in his speech lauded the efforts of the students for their active participation and timely approach in their timely presentations towards the theme. He also called upon the students to raise to the occasion to curb the corruption in all walks of life.
The chief guest Sri Divakara Shetty, Assistant Genaral Manager, Canara Bank regional office, Mysuru gave a speech on awareness amongst the youth of the nation to adopt high moral values and requested them to fight against the corruption at various levels of finance and other related fields.

3. AZAADI-70/ INDEPENDENCE-70 Cultural Activities.

In connection with celebrations “AZAADI-70” suggested by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India GSSSIET for Women organized various competitions on history & life of icons of freedom struggle. The competition was conducted on 10th and 11th August 2016 for the I year B.E., students.
The students actively participated in various cultural events including Debate, Essay, Drawing / Painting and Patriotic songs. In the Debate competition, the students shared their views on topics “Is Patriotism in independent India limited to defense solder’s?” & “Has India attained independence?”. In singing competition students sang the patriotic songs that awakened everyone’s feeling towards our Mother land. With an attempt to explore and nourish the talents of our students, Essay competition was conducted on the topics “Role of Women in the war of Indian Independence” & “The JallianwalaBagh Massacre” . Drawing/ Painting competition was also conducted on the theme “The great Indian Freedom Movements”. Students brought out their ideas about the spirits of freedom struggle through their paintings.

• Rakshitha R, Jeevitha K M , Vandana M, Soujanya P, Bhoomika K N of I TCE, Neha M R, Inchara S, Poonum S of III CSE, Ranjitha C S, Harshitha M S, Apoorva M A , Preethi M S of V CSE Branches participated in debate competition on the topic “ Viswa Shanthi Matthu Pragathi, Paraspara Sahakara Matthu Sankalpagalinda Matra Sadya” was organized by PES Science, Arts a and Commerce college, Mandya on 09/10/2015.
• Poojashree K and group, I ISE performed a group dance in SAPIENTIA-2015, a cultural fest organized by Kautilya First Grade College, Vijayanagar, Mysuru on 10th October 2015.

• A video was downloaded from AICTE web site http:// www.aicte-india.org was shown for the students to understand the significance of the theme Preventive Vigilance As A Tool Good Governance on 28/10/2015.

• A debate competition on the topic “CORRUPTION IS INSTIGATED BY GENERAL PUBLIC”, was organized for the students on 30/10/2015 in remarks of observance of vigilance awareness week. Ujwala kini of III ECE branch won the I Place, Sheetal S Prasad of VII CSE branch won the II Place, Simran Goyal of I CSE branch won the III Place.

• Constitution Day-2015 organized in our College on 20th November 2015. Smt. M.A. Hemalatha, Advocate Mysuru, was the Chief Guest and She Spoke about the fundamental rights of the Constitution of India by narrating various chapters and clauses elaborately

About Ranger :

In 1909 Lord Robert Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting, When faced with an increasing number of Girls Wishing to take part in scouting decided that Girls should have their own separate movement, and the girl guides were Founded in the UK in 1910 Under the guidance of “Agnes Baden Powell”, the sister of Robert Baden Powell.

Ranger Unit at GSSSIETW was launched on 27/02/2016 by the chief guest Sri Abdul Jameel – Hon. Secretary Bharat Scouts and Guide, Dist. Association Mysuru Smt. Manohara Prabha – Dist. Training Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guide, Dist. Association Mysuru.

Objectives Of Rangers :

• To acquire the proper background of guiding its aims,its fumdamentals,methods.
• Understand the practical value of Guide promise and law & interpret effectively
• Give a proper directions and correct approach and practice to acquire the technical skills.
• To promote Projects tot help the needy and to enrich the lifestyle with special concern for women.
• Extend service to the community with the special emphases on campaigns on health.
• Promote religious tolerant & pressure the cultural heritage of our country.
• Develop habits and acquires skills to be self reliant.

Overall Objectives :

The Bharat Scout and Guides are Voluntary, Non Political, Educational movement. This Movement is for young people, open to all without discrimination of origin, race or creed inaccordance with purpose, principles and method. 

Purpose of the Movement :

To contribute to the development of the young people in achieving their full physical intellectual social and spiritual potentials as individuals as responsible citizens and as a members of the local, National and international communities.

Centenary Rally of scouting

Centenary Rally of Scouting organized by the Bharat Scouts & Guides, Karnataka District Association, Mysuru on 21/02/2018 and 22/02/2018 at Sri Jayachamarajendra Scouts and Guides Headquarters, Mysuru. The Kalpana Chawala Rangers of GSSSIETW Mysuru were participated and presented the poster on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. conducted under District Rally –2017.

The students have  participated with great Energy  in the programme and experience the benefits of Hiking.

‘Campus cleanig’ activity was organised by Rajani G, Ranger Leader GSSSIETW, on  22nd April 2017, under the Kalpana Chawala Ranger Unit, GSSSIETW, Mysuru. The Ranger students have participated in the programme.

District Rally –2017

District Rally –2017, Organized by Bharat Scouts & Guides, Mysuru on 16/02/2017 at Dist. Head Quarters, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Mysuru. Rangers [ Sri lakshmi from TCE, Papiya mandal from TCE, & Prathima from EEE] of GSSSIETW were participated and won 1ST Prize in First aid competition conducted under  District Rally –2017.

17th National Jamboree

Rajani G, Ranger leader of GSSSIETW, Mysuru served as International Guest Contingents at  17th National Jamboree held at Adakanahalli Industrial area, Nanjangudu- Mysuru Road, Mysuru Dist. during  29/12/2016 to 04/01/2017.
